FAQS
Why Should I Get Baptized?
You should get baptized because it signifies a new life in Christ. Baptism is an act of obedience and a public declaration of faith. Even Jesus, who was without sin, fulfilled all righteousness by being baptized, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him afterward. Likewise, when you take this step, you invite the Holy Spirit to guide your life. God is pleased with those who choose to follow this path, demonstrating their commitment to Him.
Baptism is also a commandment and a vital part of our spiritual journey, serving as a public declaration of faith and commitment to Jesus Christ.
”As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him.” Matthew 3:16
”Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved…” — Mark 16:15-16
“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” – Romans 6:3-4
How are we Baptized?
At The Ark Church, we practice baptism by immersion—completely submerging the individual in water.
“Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.” Acts 8:38-39
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
Who Can Be Baptized?
Water baptism is for anyone who believes that Jesus died and rose again on the third day and has accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior. The prerequisites and effects of baptism are outlined in Mark 16:15-16 and demonstrated in Acts 8:34-35, where belief in Christ’s message precedes the act of baptism:
“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that does not believe will be damned.’ Philip then explains Scripture and preaches Jesus to the eunuch, leading to his decision to be baptized.”
